Minimum Lead Guest age: 21. Valid government ID is required for all staying guests and daytime visitors. Lead Guest must show up during check-in and check-out.
We may be required to collect guest data and show permits/records to authorities under Egyptian holiday-home licensing rules. Refusal to provide IDs may result in cancellation without refund. (Egypt’s 2025 Decree 209/2025 requires licensing and operational standards for “Holiday Homes”.)
If you book via a marketplace (e.g., Airbnb), their terms also apply in addition to these.
Licensing Compliance (Egypt)
Dar Katrine operates in alignment with Egypt’s Holiday Homes framework, including obtaining/maintaining a Touristic Eligibility Certificate and complying with health & safety standards and applicable fees. Stays are contingent on our valid licensing status.
Payment Schedule, Security Deposit & Pricing
- Deposit to confirm: 50% of total stay. Balance due: 30 days before check-in (100% due at booking if arrival is within 30 days).
- Security Deposit (refundable): Amount stated at booking; held against damages, missing items, excessive cleaning, policy breaches, unpaid services, and late check-out. Refunded within 3–10 business days after departure inspection, less deductions (with itemized statement).
- Peak/holiday minimum stays may apply and will be shown at the time of booking.
- Prices exclude government taxes/fees unless stated.
Cancellations & Changes
- Full refund if canceled ≥14 days before check-in.
- Partial refund if canceled <14 days (per notice period stated in your confirmation).
- No refund if canceled ≤3 days before check-in.

- • Fireplaces (indoor & outdoor) are lit by staff only, in season, and subject to local fire risk.
- • Kitchen: Fully equipped for guest or approved chef use. You are responsible for safe food handling.
- • Water & septic: The property uses a sensitive system—no wipes, diapers, sanitary products, or oils down drains.
- • Glass & mirrors are fragile—supervise children and take care; you are liable for breakage.
Safety, Environment & Assumption of Risk
- Mountain conditions can include uneven terrain, insects, pollen, strong sun, cold nights, and occasional power or connectivity fluctuations.
- Allergen notice: Our garden includes olive, almond, pistachio, walnut, apricot, apple, peach, plum, pomegranate, grape, fig, mulberry, lemon, basil, jasmine, Arabian jasmine, night-blooming jasmine, sage, eucalyptus, bougainvillea, and other aromatic plants—pollen exposure cannot be avoided; stays are at your own risk.
- Children must be supervised at all times; stairways, stonework, fireplaces, glass, and outdoor areas require care.
- Wildlife: Do not feed or handle animals; keep doors/windows secured as needed.
Drones & Aerial Filming (Very Important in Egypt)
- Drones are heavily restricted in Egypt and generally require prior authorization from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority; unapproved drones are routinely confiscated and may carry penalties. Do not bring or operate a drone without formal, pre-approved permits.
- Aerial/commercial filming of the property requires written permission from us and, where applicable, government permits.
Photography & Commercial Use
- Personal photography is welcomed.
- Commercial/film/photo shoots require written approval and shoot fees in advance; unapproved commercial use is prohibited and may trigger legal action.
Third-Party Services & Activities
- We can help arrange groceries, a private chef, daily cleaning, licensed guides, and transfers.
- Third-party providers operate independently; you agree we are not liable for their acts/omissions.
- Hiking requires proper gear and, where applicable, licensed local guides and permits; you are responsible for compliance and safety.
Utilities, Connectivity & Mountain Realities
- Internet and mobile coverage are provided in main areas; some garden/room spots may be weaker. Performance varies with weather and local infrastructure and is not guaranteed.
- Power or water interruptions may occur in remote areas; we act promptly but interruptions beyond our control aren’t grounds for refunds.
Cleaning, Linen & Housekeeping
- The property is cleaned before arrival; mid-stay housekeeping can be arranged (fee applies).
- Use provided towels/linens indoors only; extra or replacement sets may incur charges.
Property Care, Inventory & Damages
- You agree to reasonable care of the house, furnishings, artwork, landscaping, and inventory.
- Breakage/loss/damage (including glass/mirrors) will be charged at full repair or reconstruction cost, including materials, specialist labor, transport to/from Saint Catherine, and down-time.
- Deliberate or negligent damage may result in immediate eviction and legal action.
- We conduct pre- and post-stay inventory checks; you may request a joint walkthrough at check-in/check-out.
- If your booking is via Airbnb, the host/guest reimbursement process and AirCover damage program may also apply—separate from and in addition to our remedies.
Lost & Found
Items left behind can be shipped at cost plus a handling fee. Unclaimed items may be donated/disposed of after 30 days.
Privacy & CCTV
For perimeter security, a camera monitors the garden gate only. No cameras are inside the house or private areas. Video may be retained for a reasonable period for safety/claims.
Prohibited Conduct
Parties; unauthorized events; subletting; unauthorized commercial activity; illegal drugs; weapons; hazardous materials; and any conduct that risks safety, violates laws, or disturbs neighbors.
Force Majeure
We are not liable for events beyond our control (e.g., severe weather, government restrictions, road closures, strikes, utility failures) that make all or part of the stay impossible or impractical.
Liability & Indemnity
- You and your party assume all risks associated with mountain travel and use of the property.
- To the maximum extent permitted by Egyptian law, Dar Katrine/owners/affiliates shall not be liable for injury, illness, stolen or damaged personal property, or consequential losses.
- You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from your stay.
Data Protection
We collect only necessary personal data to manage your booking, comply with licensing/guest-record obligations, and provide services; we do not sell personal data. By booking, you consent to this processing and to sharing data with authorities if legally required. (Egypt’s Holiday Homes decree anticipates operational/health & safety compliance.)
Governing Law & Venue
These Terms are governed by Egyptian law. Courts of competent jurisdiction in Egypt shall have exclusive venue.
Acceptance
